Broadcasting & Teleport Services
Connecting Africa - Telemedia hosts one of the continent's largest privately owned and carrier neutral teleports and provides broadcast facilities, satellite, communication, and fibre connectivity to our clients. Our uplink and downlink services are registered with leading satellite operators and enable us to connect Africa to the world and provide clients with complete coverage of the Continent. Telemedia's MCR sports the latest monitoring and routing equipment that is capable of managing multiple video feeds. Our dish farm contains fixed and steerable dishes which includes 42 C-Band and Ku-Band up to 9.3 metre in diameter.
Fibre Network Services
Telemedia has its own Fibre Optic network in Johannesburg. This network can deliver IP data, encoded TSoIP, and uncompressed HD video signals. Our clients include all the major broadcasters in the country. Telemedia's video network implements the latest SMPTE standards to transport uncompressed and compressed video signals over IP. Our network is self-managed with a capacity of up to 80Gbit/s. The network extends both nationally and internationally using dedicated leased lines from all major telecommunication companies and internet transit providers. Our fibre network is supplemented with our VSAT network which provides access to hard-to-reach locations and mitigates any unexpected cable breaks.

This offering makes it possible to unlock the value of local leagues, matches and games at a fraction of the cost of traditional media delivery systems.
5G Interferes with Satellite Signals
5G telecommunications signals, operating in the millimeter-wave spectrum (particularly between 24 and 40 GHz), have the potential to interfere with satellite transmissions due to the proximity of their frequencies to those used by various satellite systems. Satellites, especially those involved in meteorology, Earth observation, and communications, often use similar frequency bands for data transmission and reception. One of the primary concerns is the potential interference with passive satellite sensors, particularly those operating in the 23.6 to 24 GHz range, used for weather forecasting and climate monitoring. These sensors rely on detecting naturally occurring microwave emissions from the Earth's surface and atmosphere to measure critical parameters.
